Camu Camu Powder

Camu Camu is a berry native to the Amazon rain forest. Camu camu has been used for  reducing the risk of chronic diseases thanks to its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties because of its high levels of vitamin C. A single teaspoon serving of camu camu powder provides 682 mg of vitamin C—more than 10 times the amount in a medium-size orange. Beyond vitamin C, camu camu provides smaller amounts of potassium, calcium, zinc, magnesium, manganese, and copper. Like most colorful berries, camu camu is a good source of polyphenols. These micro-nutrients are antioxidants; previous research has linked polyphenols to improved gut health, improved heart health, and a reduced risk for certain types of cancer. Due to Camu Camu’s high level of Vitamin C, its also great for the immune system by blocking free radicals, viruses, and bacterial infections from entering the body. Camu may help prevent obesity by positively altering the gut microbiota (also linked to immune function) and by increasing energy. Several studies found that camu could lead to lowered fat accumulation and blunted metabolic inflammation, leading to improved glucose tolerance and insulin sensitivity.
