Arnica

Arnica, Arnica cordifolia

Is known for reducing inflammation, alleviating pain and killing germs due to two important compounds: sesquiterpene and dihydrohelenalin.

It also contains flavonoids, polysaccharides, inulin, tannins, mucilage and resin. This is a perfect combination to bring you pain relief. Arnica is not recommended for internal use as it contains Helenalin which is toxic in large amounts. Its use is external as it alleviates sprains, muscle pains and dislocations. Applied promptly, it helps prevent the formation of bruises by stopping the capillaries from bleeding. It works by stimulating the activity of white blood cells which process congested blood, and by dispersing trapped fluids from joints and muscles and bumped and bruised tissue. It also has anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial qualities and it is these that help to reduce pain and swelling as well as speeding up the healing process of a wound. Simply soak a towel in warm tea of Arnica, and apply to the bruise, sprain, or wound and watch the healing process begin. Add a quart of the tea to a warm bath to create a soothing soak, rinse freshly washed hair with the warm tea to encourage hair growth, or women can add lavender leaves, mugwort, red clover leaves along with arnica and make a natural douche or vaginal steam for vaginal health. External uses of Arnica tea consist of: scar healing, bursitis, eczema, insect bites, poison ivy, hair growth, acne, boils, arthritis, gout, cold sores, and herpes.
