Blackberry leaf tea is very useful and is a multi-purpose herb that has been used as a diuretic, to soothe sore throats, as a treatment for diarrhea (esp. in children), hemorrhoids, and as a mouthwash for strengthening gums and treating mouth sores. An infusion of the leaves has been used for curing vomiting and loose bowels. It has also been known to be great for the cardiovascular system, as it has a large amount of tannins. Tannins in tea are not to be mistaken by tannic acid which is used to tan animal hides. Tannin is a natural astringent that can help cleanse the outside & inside of the body. Using as a tea 2-3 cups a day can help with gum diseases, oral cavities, colds, the flu & respiratory infections. Due to the high amount of vitamin C & other potent nutrients in the leaves, it is also useful for treating bacterial & viral infections, dehydration & fevers. As a gargle, it helps soothe the mouth & throat naturally due to its antiseptic properties. These antiseptic properties also make this a good tea for external uses as well. Cooled blackberry tea can be applied topically to minor cuts, scrapes, and burns to help prevent infection and encourage healing. All of Sacred Rootz herbs are 100% organic.
