Coltsfoot has an calming effect on the throat, as well as on the brains cough activating mechanism. The herb contains high mucilage and saponins which have disinfectant and anti-inflammatory effects that ease respiratory problems. The primary use of Coltsfoot is for asthma, bronchitis, coughs, mucus, lung problems, and catarrah. Coltsfoot is rich in vitamins A and C, and also contains calcium, zinc, potassium, vitamins P, B12, and B6. It also has traces of copper, iron, and manganese.
